Enjoying My New Car

After finally saving enough money for a down payment on a new car, I was really excited about customizing it and really making it my own. I spent a lot of time going through and thinking of different ways to make the vehicle unique, and it was exciting to see how far it was able to come. I completely replaced the seat covers, overhauled the electronics, and gave the engine a serious tune-up. When I was finished, the car ran like a gem, and it looked even better. This blog is all about enjoying your new vehicle and not taking great features for granted.

5 Tips To Help Prevent Costly Auto Repairs

by Arianna Tucker

Most automobile owners rely on their vehicles on a daily basis, so it is important for them to be in good working order. The last thing most people want to deal with is an unexpected and very costly auto repair bill. Luckily, there are several things that you can do to keep your car operating properly. Use the following tips to help prevent expensive auto repairs:

Stay on Top of Preventative Maintenance

One of the simplest ways to prevent expensive auto repairs is by properly maintaining your vehicle. Take the time to read the car's owners manual, and carefully follow the manufacturer's suggested maintenance schedule. Most people know that it is important to change the oil regularly, but it is also essential to change the transmission fluid, tune up the cooling system, replace spark plugs, and have other preventative services performed.

Don't Ignore Small Problems

After driving a vehicle day in and day out, you most likely know what to expect from your car. So, if you notice strange sounds or your vehicle begins to drive differently, don't ignore these issues. In many cases, small problems can be repaired for an affordable price. But ignoring the warning signs of a problem with your vehicle can lead to more extensive damage that can lead to necessary repairs that are quite expensive.

Upgrade Your Oil

During regular oil changes, skip traditional motor oil and opt for synthetic motor oil. While synthetic motor oil is more expensive to purchase, it can be very beneficial for your engine and can help keep your engine performing properly longer. Having an engine repaired or replaced can be incredibly costly, so it is important to do whatever you can to keep it running well.

Pay Attention to Your Tires

Many people do not realize that the amount of air in your tires is very important. Take the time to measure the tire pressure in each tire, and add air as needed. Failure to keep the tires of your car properly inflated can lead to uneven wear and even a tire blowout, which can cause a serious accident when traveling at high speeds.

Check Coolant Levels Regularly

Heat is the enemy of many car parts, especially the engine and transmission. A simple way to help ensure that the essential parts in your car do not overheat is by regularly checking the coolant level. If your coolant level is low, you can add more. But if you are continually noticing that your vehicle does not have enough coolant, take it into a mechanic to have the cooling system checked for a leak.
